This is a view from in front of our cottage in Mackinaw City. All the years of looking out at the water has helped to inspire us to
to explore more of our country's waterways.

Oriental

Sunday morning we had planned to leave around 6 am but we goofed when we set the clock the night before and we got an extra hour of sleep.  Oh well, it had rained really hard during the night and early in the am it was foggy.  We were using both the Radar and fog horn.  We heard two boats who were seasonal's at the New Bern marina talking about being at anchor during the storm last night.  Again, we were SO glad to have been tied to the dock.

As we traveled back down the Neuse River the fog lifted but winds and waves increased.  We had planned on staying at Whittaker Point but found out that our cell service would not work there and we needed to talk to Kelly regarding a summer rendezvous.   We had heard Ginny and Greg from Brown Eyed Girl on the radio and they said that River Dunes Marina was suppose to be very nice so we decided to join them.  The marina was beautiful with a pool, hot tubs, beautiful grounds and even a chapel.

All the dock hand rails were like this.

We shared the courtesy car and explored Oriental and found a marine consignment store that both John and Greg could have stayed in much longer than Ginny and I wanted to.  All I can say is I couldn't wait to get back and wash my hands after going through the place.

Not sure of the significance of the dragon but it had it's own pond.

We stopped at a small grocery on the way back to the marina and bought the fixings for a spaghetti for dinner this evening.  It was very good, even if I do say so.
