This is a view from in front of our cottage in Mackinaw City. All the years of looking out at the water has helped to inspire us to
to explore more of our country's waterways.

Belhaven

Monday morning we all left shortly after 7 am and when we got back out to the Neuse River the waves were even bigger than yesterday.  They seemed to get bigger  as the day wore on.  We then went into Goose Creek that was more protected for a short stretch but then onto Pamlico River that was wider and rough again.  All in all not a fun crossing.

We were both glad to be tied to our dock in Belhaven at the Dowry Creek Marina. It's not quite like the marina last night but everyone seems very nice and helpful.   We spent the afternoon washing all the salt off the boat.  Both of us can't wait to get back to the Great Lakes and out of salt water.

That's all salt spray on the front window.

More salt spray.
This marina has a "Captain's Lounge" where everyone gathered at 5:30 for happy hour.  Also there were Jeff and Karen Siegel, the founders of ActiveCaptain, which is another well used website for the cruising boater.  They have a gorgeous 53 foot DeFever and are there way back to Maine for the season with their two dogs.  It was nice meeting and chatting with them.

I cooked pork chops on board per Ginny's recipe, they were quite good.
