We pulled away from Isle of
Hope with about a million no see’ums following us, after they had had a little
taste of our northern hospitality.
Georgia is known for these little critters and they were out in full
force at dawn. Did we mention that
we have been running with all the screens up since we arrived in Georgia do to
all the bugs. They have kept the
critters at bay but we have had a bit of a hard time seeing where we are going. We were also sent off with a
friendly wave from Chris on Southern Belle. It was really fun getting caught up on one another’s
travels. We are hoping to meet up
with Kerm and Chris again along the way, depending on what they decide to do
over the next few months.
Our travels were smooth
except for one rude cruiser who thought that he didn’t need to slow down when
passing, his name was Cloud Nine and I can only say I wish that would be the
only place you could find him.
We pulled into Beaufort at
about 1:30 and we were able to walk around town and enjoy some of the shops. We went out for dinner with Craig and Ginny to a restaurant named Plum, it
was enjoyed by all. Due to all the bugs John put on Jeans and a long sleeved
shirt, neither of which he has worn since leaving Tarpon Springs last
January. The bugs are ten times
worse than any we have encountered up in the North Channel. I am happy to be with John since they seem to like him far better than me!!
On Sunday we did a walking tour of the many historic homes as we tried to keep dry from all of the rain drops. We enjoyed dinner on board tonight.
Our plans are to head to Charleston tomorrow. The weather looks a bit windy and of course I am already concerned about how we are going to get away from the dock in the morning. Departure in set for 6:30 so I am hoping the wind and current will die down before then.
