Today started out with clouds and rain but as we pulled into the marina the clouds were breaking up and we could see some blue skies. By the time we had reached our destination for the day and were all settled in it was quite sunny.
Some thing you wouldn't expect to see along a river bank. |
We hiked over to the visitors center which was a reproduction of the type of mansion built along the Tombigbee river in the mid 1800's. There were a lot of interesting exhibits about the Tenn-Tom Waterway System.

There was also an old snag boat, the US Montgomery which was the last steam operated stern wheeler in operation on the inland waterways of the South. it was built in 1926 and retired form service in 1982. It has been restored and is now in dry dock. Unfortunately, it was closed for maintenance today. We did get to walk around it and view it from the outside.

Pirates Cove Marina No pirates found! |
Tomorrow is anchor night as it's over 90 miles until Demopolis which is the next marina and the end of the Tenn-Tom and beginning of the Lower Black Warrior river, which will take us to Mobile. Most likely we won't have Internet until the marina in Demopolis.
