This is a view from in front of our cottage in Mackinaw City. All the years of looking out at the water has helped to inspire us to
to explore more of our country's waterways.

Bobby's Fish Camp

Short trip today only 28 miles and we arrived at Bobby's Fish Camp early.  We had a lot of tow traffic along this stretch,  almost as busy as the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers. Bobby's has been around  for a long time.  He passed away last year but his daughter is running every thing now.  There is a restaurant that was not scheduled to be open today but she said as long as we have four boats with eight people wanting dinner she would open it up for us. The speciality is catfish.  The dock where we are tied to for the evening is 150 feet long,  right along the river,  we have read on other blogs that at times as many as 17 boats have been rafted to this one rickety dock.  You probably get the idea by now there is not many places to either anchor or tie up along this stretch.  This river is mostly used for commercial traffic and in the fall some pleasure crafts  heading south to Florida.

This Tow was behind us by 1/2 mile all day, we let it pass just before docking at Bobby's.

Laura Jane, Bobby's daughter opened up the the restaurant and cooked dinner for the eight of us that were tied up at the dock.  John had the catfish and Mary had shrimp and stuffed crab.  Everyone seemed to enjoy their dinner and were especially grateful that they opened up just for us.
