Due to the wind we ended up spending a couple of extra days in Chicago. It was not that bad as we spent one day working on our tentative schedule between Chicago and the AGLCA rendezvous at Joe Wheeler in late October. It turns out we have about 10 extra days at this point. The second day Christy came and picked us up and we had an unplanned day in Oak Park with the grandkids, that we enjoyed very much. There was a little bit left on our CTA fare card which was due to expire so we took the EL and a bus back to the harbor.
We left Chicago early, stopped for a free pump out, went through our first lock on the Loop and made it under all the bridges in Chicago with out a problem.

Mary likes clean windows, but would not do this to get them. |
After all the Chicago bridges and waiting for half an hour for the Amtrak bridge we we continued on the chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal. Which was very industrial at time yet also very rural and would be quite impressive with fall colors.

Looks like a lot of fun to go through Chicago and under the bridges. Was Passport nervous in the first big lock?
It all looks so very grand. Hope the fall season brings good weather!
