We left Friday morning a few minutes
after five. We wanted to take
advantage of the tide on Delaware
Bay and we were happy to get quite a boost to our speed through out all but the
last hour of the trip. We also picked
up some waves that last hour. Over all it was a comfortable trip and
we arrived at 11 am. Rich and
Carol from the boat Salt n Sand have a condo and boat slip at the Canyon Club
Resort in Cape May and they had
offered both John and Mary’s the use of their slip as we came through. We will used the slip until Monday and
then the fast Mary and John will be able to enjoy it before they move up to New
York later in the week.

We were greeted by Rich and Carol
shortly after tying up , they were very kind in offering us all the use of
their car for going to town. We
all had a great time together for dinner at the Lobster House that evening. After dinner we were given our
own private driving tour by Rich and Carol of Cape May. We are very lucky to have such informed
friends. Thanks so very much!!
On Saturday, John and I ran a few
more errands and then went into Cape May and did a trolley tour of the historic homes in Cape May, including the
Emlen Physick Estate. This was a restored 1879 Victorian house. Cape May has
been a summer tourist destination for nearly two centuries and is full of
Victorian houses and interesting shops, not to mention its miles of beaches,
Cape May Lighthouse, the bird observatory, and it is still a very active
commercial and recreational fishing center.
When we returned from our trip to
town we were pleased to see the the boat Boreas with Fred and Julaine had come
in. Rich and Carol had made
reservations at a place in town for all of us and we enjoyed the food and the
company.
After dinner we went in two cars to Wildwood which was not to far from Cape May and learned just what the “Jersey Shore “ is all about. There must have been miles of amusement rides along with miles of carnival type games and any type of food you could want. What fun we had riding the roller coaster and ferris wheel.

Mary even had her eyes open at the top of the Ferris Wheel. |
Sunday was spent trying to decide
if we should leave or not and then when it was decided to stay, laundry was
done and John changed the oil on the generator. Later in the afternoon Something Special and Glory
Days pulled in. We enjoyed getting together with all the Loopers at the pool and
for cocktails in the evening. We had quite a get together, in addition to Rich & Carol there were 5 Looper boats.

Monday morning we left at 6:30
with the intent of sticking our nose out into the Ocean to see what the waves
were like for our 30 plus miles we needed to do to get to Atlantic City. We decided that it was not too bad with
2-3 foot swells and so we kept on going.
As we got further along they did increase to 4 foot but all in all it
was not too bad. We tied up
in Atlantic City by 10:30 took the
the Jitney (public transportation) to the boardwalk and some of the
casinos. It was sure something to
see. We had a quiet dinner on
board. We plan to take the NJICW
tomorrow as the winds are predicated to be even greater and we would like to
get as far as Manasquan N.J.

Morton's started in Chicago, nice to see they are doing so well. |
Due to the wave forecast we have come up with a plan B to see NYC. We will rent a car in Manasquan for a few days and see it that way. This way we hope to stay on schedule to meet up with Kelly & family in the 1,000 Islands in late June and still see a bit of NYC.
Big Apple here we come,
Mary & John
