Waiting for the bridge to open. |
We miss you guys. |
The weatherman was pretty much right on as by 8:30 or 9:00 the waves were increasing, the inner harbor in Baltimore is very protected so that by the time we got to our slip all was good. We passed many large ships on our way into Baltimore.
Baltimore has many marinas to choose from, we are tied up at the Inner Harbor Marina and it seems very nice. Cleaned up Passport once we were tied up and then headed for town. Since it was a short run form Annapolis we had arrived early.
John headed for the tours of the USS Constellation built in 1854, Lightship Chesapeake and the Submarine USS Torsk, while I went exploring the shopping in the area. John said that he enjoyed his expedition and anyone that know me does not need to ask if I had fun. John also enjoyed himself touring the boats, I think he regrets not being able to join the Navy due to his childhood asthma.
We then came back to the boat for dinner.
We have enjoyed our time in Baltimore even though at this time there is a bit of an odor. They have been doing a lot of dredging in preparation for a tall ships festival commemorating the 200th anniversary of the war of 1812 later this month. This has created the harbor wide smell, we sure hope it goes away before the festival. There is lots to do, all kinds of shopping, many museums and a nice walkway all around the harbor.
Our plans are to leave early and get to Chesapeake City where we then will start the C and D canal the following day, of course this is all weather permitting. Hoping to meet up with some fellow Loppers, we are feeling a little lonely.
All
for now,
Mary
and John

Well did you buy anything in your shopping expeditions? All the boats do look interesting and I am sure it was nice to have a little urban fix.
