Rob and Dixie arrived late this afternoon. They had rented a convertible and toured South Beach before driving down here. Both commented that it was a long drive. After dinner on board we all got settled in.
Welcome to Key Largo |
Thursday
We were off to Key West this morning. It was fun going by car and seeing where we had cruised a couple of weeks ago. Started out cloudy but the sun came out once we got to Key West. We had a very nice late lunch at waterside restaurant looking out over the harbor where the cruise ship that we had taken to the Bahamas a few years back was berthed. Walked around town with Rob and Dixie and went to the southern most point, it was then back in the car for the long drive back to Key Largo.
Friday
Another partly cloudy and windy day. Rob and Dixie tried to take the dinghy out in the Atlantic but it was too rough, they both came back a little salty. It was Dixie’s birthday so we had reservations at Bayside Grille on the Florida Bay side to view the sunset. Unfortunately it was cloudy and not much of a sunset. The food however was excellent and we all enjoyed the evening.
Saturday
Another partly cloudy and windy day. We were off to an alligator farm and an airboat tour. Along the way we stopped at the neatest fruit stand with the name of “ Robert is Here” of course we had to get a picture of Rob under the sign. We wanted to get our senior National Park pass so we stopped at the Everglades National Park on the way to the alligator farm. The ranger there recommended a short hike not to far into the park that we took. It was filled with all sorts of different birds, a lot of turtles and an amazing bunch of alligators. It was so neat to see all of that and at that point we decided to forgo the Alligator Farm. We found a nice little tiki bar on the way back and had a late lunch. After we got back Rob and Dixie took the dinghy out again and this time were able to get into the Atlantic Ocean but couldn’t stay to long as it was getting dark. We had stopped at a local fish market and we all enjoyed fresh shrimp with linguine for dinner.

Just had to take some pictures of the John Deere tractors for Will, Jack will probabally like them too.
Rob at Robert's |
Another partly cloudy and windy day, am I starting to sound like a broken record? We all went out in the dinghy but again it was too rough to venture out of the canal. Our company left around 2pm so we were faced with our every day chores and did laundry and washed the boat. It was sure fun to have Rob and Dixie on board and we appreciated getting to see more of the area than we ever could by bike. Thanks for visiting us! Watched the Super Bowl on the big screens at Coconuts the restaurant that is right next to us while sitting on our upper deck. It was fun but the commercials were hard to see.
Monday
Huge rain storm over night, into the morning and afternoon. So yes another cloudy day but at least the winds are not as strong. We just discovered several people looking in the water right in front of our boat and of course we had to check it out and to our surprise there was a huge Manatee drinking from the water that comes out of our air conditioner. We had heard that they like to drink fresh water and if you leave a hose dripping over the side it will attract them but you can also get a fine for doing this. What was funny is that the water from our air conditioner is salt water. Any way it was sure fun to watch this very large creature, they are so ugly they are almost cute.
Still raining this afternoon so I guess a good book is in order. We can't complain.
Hope all is well with every one and we will post again soon.

The kids LOVE all these new pictures- we have looked at them a few times. They also got their Valentine's which are all on the mantle. And they want to use their $ at the museum trip we have planned for tomorrow :)
